1910.23(a)(3)(i)
Hinged floor opening cover of standard strength and construction equipped with standard railings or permanently attached thereto so as to leave only one exposed side. When the opening is not in use, the cover shall be closed or the exposed side shall be guarded at both top and intermediate positions by removable standard railings.

In most situations, OSHA (Std. 29 CFR 1910.23) requires guardrail protection on the exposed sides of openings in roofs and floors.

BlueWater Mfg. has modified our SafetyRail 2000 guardrail system to meet those safety concerns. Our Roof Hatch/Skylight Systems exceeds OSHA Std. 29 CFR 1910.23 and 1910.27. It is the only product available in the market with a gate assembly that meets the same OSHA regulations and requires no drilling into any surface for installation. The Roof Hatch/Skylight Systems set up in minutes and are easily dismantled for roof repair. Sized gates enable the Roof Hatch System to be located within 6 inches of the open roof hatch.
